Introducing: David Yurman

David Yurman is American luxury jewellery and timepiece brand founded back in New York City by David Yurman and his wife, Sybil Yurman. As a married couple, they built their jewellery brand based on an undying passion for art and design with their intention to make stunning jewellery pieces to wear.

Their son Evan Yurman joined the private family company in 2003 and with his inspiration from nature and antiquities, plays an essential role in designing many collections. In 2004, Evan Yurman became Design Director of the Men’s and Timepiece Collections. Later, in 2009, Evan launched a unique collection of high jewellery. Even today, all three members of the Yurman family collaborate in every aspect of the family business.

Yurman’s innovative designs

Over the years, David Yurman created numerous collections and timepieces in sterling silver and gold. Mixed metal designs and pavé diamonds can recognize Yurman’s artworks and creations. Those are used primarily in silver pieces. Yurman was the first of prominent jewellers to set diamonds in silver settings, naming this creation Silver Ice. Using stone cuts, such as the cushion cut in his Albion collection, made David Yurman well-known in the jewellery industry. For the men’s collections and jewellery, the brand chooses non-traditional materials such as titanium, carbon fibre and meteorite.

David Yurman boutiques

At the moment, there are many David Yurman boutiques in the United States and internationally. In New York, the brand’s hometown, David Yurman runs two boutiques – one located at 114 Prince Street and the second, right in the middle of Manhattan, at 5 East 57th Street. The brand’s latest 57th Street flagship store was designed by Chief Creative Officer Evan Yurman and architect Michael Gabellini of Gabellini Sheppard Associates. The boutique, spread over an exceptional 5,000 square feet and three floors, displays not only the brand’s women’s and men’s wedding and high jewellery collections but also limited-edition designs.
David Yurman’s authorised retailers include many stores across the United States and the world.

The David Yurman Cable

In 2017, Rizzoli published the brand’s first-ever book named David Yurman Cable. This book explores David Yurman’s legendary cable bracelet – twisted helix that became Yurman’s artistic signature, and Yurman’s use of it in his jewellery. The Cable bracelet was designed in 1982, and the cable motif was awarded two rare design trademarks in the United States. The monograph includes essays by Paul Greenhalgh, William Norwich and Carine Roitfeld.
