A 204.36-carat yellow-coloured diamond was cut from a 552.74-carat stone – the biggest gem mined in North America. It was named “The Dancing Sun” and was mined at the Diavik Diamond Mine in Northwest Territories, Canada, in 2018. Its price could go up to $5.5M at Christie’s auction, New York.
Six other gemstones were cut from the 552.74-carat stone, weighted from 14.52 to 1.06 carats. Those will be for sale in the same auction as the Dancing Sun. In the past, two other pear-shaped gems cut from the same stone were sold for $1.5M with their weight of 37.87 and 36.80 carats.
